The frame: the half of the glasses that is never cleaned

Cleaning your glasses usually means cleaning the lenses. However, the frame has the most contact with your skin, and a cloth barely reaches the transitions around the nose pads.

For most people, cleaning glasses means cleaning the lenses. The frame is often neglected, even though it has the most contact with the skin throughout the day. Skin oils, sweat, sunscreen, day cream, makeup, and dust accumulate on the contact surfaces. For a long time, this remains invisible.

Nose pads, temple tips, the transitions to the hinges: that is exactly where the glasses rest on the skin hour after hour. In summer, sweat and sunscreen add up, while in winter, richer creams do the rest.

On a lens, a smudge is immediately obvious: you see it and wipe it away. On the frame, this signal is completely missing. The film builds up unnoticed over weeks until the pads eventually look dull or dark edges appear at the seams.

Then there is the shape: most nose pads are small, curved, and connected to the frame via narrow stems. A cloth wipes over the curve, but barely reaches the crevice underneath. That is exactly where residue persists most stubbornly: damp, tight, and hard to reach.

Dry wiping does little here; the greasy film is spread rather than removed. And using a fingernail as a tool is not a good idea: it leaves scratches in the soft material of the pads, where even more dirt can collect later.

What actually helps: a cleaner that dissolves the film, plus movement that extracts it from the transitions. Afterward, rinse thoroughly and dry completely, otherwise moisture will remain in the gaps. If pads are heavily discolored, porous, or loose, that is a job for the optician anyway: replacement is part of their daily routine.

With the Eyeshaker, this happens automatically: the cleaning solution washes over the entire pair of glasses, not just the lens surface. Nose pads, frame edges, crevices: everything comes into contact with the water and cleaning tab at the same time, without needing to clean each spot individually. The entire process takes about 20 seconds, including rinsing and drying. One cleaning tab lasts up to 10 days. Dry with the dark side of THE GLOVE and polish with the light side.

Anyone who only cleans the lenses leaves out the part of the glasses that has the most skin contact. Including the frame doesn't cost an extra step. It just needs to be part of the routine from the start.
